Nestled in the heart of the Blue Ridge Mountains, Burnsville, which was established in
1834, is just 35 miles northeast of Asheville. Located in Yancey County, Burnsville is
home to five of the highest mountains in the Eastern U.S. It’s also home to the largest
public telescope in the southeast, the longest continually operating summer theater in
N.C., and the oldest continually operating hotel in North Carolina.

Downtown Burnsville’s allure starts at its charming town square and continues along
Main Street, with its eclectic mix of independently owned shops, restaurants, and art
galleries. To discover the wealth of possibilities, meander over to the Visitor Center,
housed inside a converted garage and filling center that served the townspeople for
decades. The 1922 Dodge Roadster in the lobby serves as a fun reminder of the
building’s storied history.

The Chamber of Commerce is located here, with staff eager to help provide the resources and information to make your experience the best it can BE.
